Who wants to go for a little bike ride?
For the third year in a row the June 9 Love Ludington weekend will feature an attempt to break a world record (actually TWO this year). All we need is 1,500 folks with a bicycle, a helmet is strongly recommended.
The Shoreline Cycling Club is partnering with the Love Ludington committee and hopes to claim the records for the longest parade of bicycles (1,186) as well as the longest line of bikes in a row not moving (1,448). Thanks to the Mason Oceana Manistee board of realtors, Metalworks, House of Flavors, Smith and Eddy Insurance and Borema-Hamm Insurance for sponsoring this madness.
What? – Setting two Guinness World Records
When? – Saturday morning, June 9th between 7:30 am and 11:30 am.
Why? – Because we’re nuts.
Where (and some more when)? – Oriole Field, Ludington, registration will be Friday night from 5-8pm near the ticket booth at the corner of Gaylord and Tinkham Avenue, morning of registration will be from 7:30am to 9:15am, ride will start at 9:30 am sharp and we should be done with the riders by 11.
Who? – Anyone with a bike, and, preferably a helmet. The ride will be no more than 5 miles and the pace will be a very casual 8-9 miles an hour.
Parking Information, There will be some parking on the north side of Oriole Field off Lowell Street and the city streets east of where the Lakestride runners will park. You’ll have a bike so we think there should be parking downtown and on any of the streets east of Rath as well as the high school, St Simons and the Methodist Church said it’s fine to use their parking lots as overflow. Both are within a mile of the event start. If you’re an experienced rider that has the capability to ride to the event please do so.
